Gable Fan
May 2009

My attic is ridiculously hot. I thought the ridge vent and soffits were enough. Not even close. Installing a gable fan should help move the heat out of the attic - making the whole house cooler and hopefully running the AC less in the summer.

Gable vent at east end of house. Thermometer to see what the temp was while working.

Building a frame to go around vent.

Boxing in the frame.

Cut hole and test fit. Work more easily done in the garage.

Mount frame to vent. Make sure it's all level and secure. Don't need any annoying vibrations coming from the attic over the bedroom.

Almost done.

Gotta helper to help feed the wire from the house attic down the wall to the garage attic.

Jen says she heard the wire coming down toward the hole on the left. I thought it should come out the hole on the right.

Jen was right.

Wired up, thermastat set and ready to go.
