Alex & Fumi's Wedding Sept. 04

Our European adventure starts in Geneva, Switzerland. Actually it started in Newark, NJ (Wichita, Kansas for
Alex Reed), but who cares about that when you're going to Europe. The wedding was going to be in a little
French town named Givry. Logistically, it was easier & quicker to fly to Geneva and drive to Givry, then
fly to Paris.  Compared to the stereotypical expectations of European countries, France is HUGE, and
we weren't anywhere near Paris.

To help adjust our clocks (and simply have an excuse to hang in Geneva) we stayed the first
day in Geneva. So here we are in Geneva. This is Michael and Joseph strolling down (up actually) one
of the many lovely streets in the old part of Geneva.

Here I am using this low roof to keep myself from falling flat on my face. With some quick math you'll
understand why. We left Newark, NJ about 6:30 pm on Wednesday. The flight was about 7 hours. Geneva is
6 hours ahead. I had gotten up at 5 am wednesday morning. At this point I had been up for nearly 24 hours.
Sure there was the option of sleeping on the plane, but lucky for me, I couldn't. Nor was I allowed to sleep
(for the purpose of adjusting) when we got there. By the end of the day I think I was awake for 36 hours.
Needless to say I slept like the dead that night.

The obligatory narrow European street shot.

Now that everyone understands we didn't go to Paris, I'll try to explain why we didn't go to the UN or any
other sight of noteworthy value. When we travel, we usually try to stay clear of agendas. We get enough of
thosein our real lives. Instead, we tend to wander aimlessly, soaking in the random sights as we go. For
instance, happening upon this park, we immediately recognized the random opportunity these
rocking horses provided. Here Michael, myself and Alex take in the local "experience" of the park.

Not far from the horses we found this spectacular "old school European" carousel. Nothing like the power
of the people to get you going.

Yeah this was cool and fun to watch. Having to walk and move around their pieces, the players were really
animated. They'd pace, tap their foot or get shifty when it wasn't their turn.  When it was time to move they
were soldiers in the calvery or on the retreat - moving pieces on the attack or in defense. Even the guy in
the chair was fun to watch. He'd take a long drag on his cigarette and nod his head in approval or
dissapointment to each man's move.

After the lack of sleep, we could only muster a game of checkers. Michael and Joseph had obviously spent
a lot of time watching the olympics as they made excellent commentators for the game - commenting on
each players moves and their childhood aspirations to be checker masters.

If you sat out on the window sill and hung yourself out over the street 4 stories below, you could see lake
Geneva from our hotel window.

Another European street shot, but this one with cool flags.

This is me taking a picture of Alex taking a picture of Micheal and Joseph. As if you couldn't figure that out
on your own. I guess the real question is why?

BIG church in old Geneva.
